Day Tours

My family and I booked a day tour with McIntosh tours this December. Raymond was an amazing guide and a good driver. We deeply enjoyed the conversation and appreciated his vast knowledge of the land and its history.

Raymond picked us up from our hotel in Edinburgh and took us to Dunkeld, Loch Tummel, Loch Rannoch, Rannoch station. We made plenty of photo stops along the way and Raymond was eager to share his knowledge about these places.

What is unique about Raymond’s company vs. the other operators is that he owns and runs this company and has a genuine interest in his job. His tours are not a checkbox-style pre-canned tour that you would find with many of the others. Raymond understood what we liked and made sure he showed us places along the way that we would like. We had initially booked a Viator tour but we had to cancel it as they wouldn’t accept one of our children. I am glad that didn’t go as planned or we would not have discovered McIntosh tours.

We were a family of five, a couple and three kids. Raymond was kind enough to find and bring along a booster seat and baby seat before he took us on the tour in his clean and lovely car. He is also a man of good character, very respectful and culturally aware – the kind of person you want to have on a long tour.

Scotland has a lot to be explored and experienced. We certainly hope to be back and McIntosh Tours are going to get a call from us again. Thank you Raymond!

Ray McIntosh, owner/operator of McIntosh Tours constructed this tour for us entirely. My only instruction to him was that I wanted to see the Robertson lands, their Kirk and burial sites. Ray delivered 100%. His colleague, retired teacher Angus Clarke, took us on a one day 12 hour tour that was remarkably thorough, informative, tailored and engaging. Also very comfortable in his roomy Range Rover.

Points of the tour were: Clan Donnachaidh museum, the Robertson Tree, Clan chiefs burial site, the Robertson Kirk at Struan, Killiecrankie park, Loch Rannoch, Blair Atholl Castle, and most emotive of all was the walk through the woods to the ruins of the manor house at Dunalastair. All of these had some connection (and most a very deep connection) to the Robertson Clan.

It was for me a very emotional moment when Angus played Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace on his bag pipes as my wife and I stood amid the ruin of the old Clan chiefs burial ground located deep in the woods. How many tour guides would do that for you?

Ray and Angus are both excellent at their jobs. We give them our highest possible rating. If you’re planning a trip to the highlands look this company up and book with them BEFORE engaging another tour company. Ray does not splurge on internet advertising, his company never comes up 1st, if at all, when you google search highland tours of a specific clan. That’s a shame because a company that can put together a tour so tailored and specialized to the customers specific needs deserves all the PR it can get.

Lovely tour for highlights of the Highlands!

Victoria brought us on forested walks, to the cutest little towns, and a wonderful little lunch spot.

She was an expert guide, having grown up in the area.

We appreciated her warm, Scottish hospitality! Colleen.

We love Scotland, having been first attracted by the Coos, but then wonderful, genuine and friendly people. Laura and Raymond McIntosh brought that to the next level.

Both are talented sailors and Laura a particularly talented chef. The day was a complete joy, sailing the waters around Oban and feasting like royalty.

If they have an open date, book it! Vincent

McIntosh tours were fantastic to work with in providing a full day of touring the beautiful highland area and taking us to visit the areas that our ancestors lived.

Raymond is highly knowledgeable of the area and is able to take you to areas that are individualized to your requests and then adds his expertise to make the tour so very memorable.

We had an unforgettable tour thanks to Raymond and McIntosh Tours.

We spent the day with Raymond on January 3, 2020 and it will be a day never forgotten.

Raymond is extremely knowledgeable about Scotland as well as very entertaining.

We spent our day in the Perth area where many of my ancestors had lived. Found the grave of my ggg grandfather in Kinfauns which was a very special moment.

My only wish would have been to have more time with our wonderful host. If you plan to tour Scotland look no further than Mcintosh Tours !!

Raymond is an excellent guide and really made our one-day trip to the Highlands an unforgettable experience for a family of 5 adults.

He was so flexible that he even organized a short visit to Castle Menzies when we came up with that idea on the way.

Raymond didn’t just show us the sights but he also told us a lot about the historical background of Scotland. Without a doubt, we would definitely recommend him for any trips.

My husband and I did a day tour of three distilleries outside of Edinburgh and really did not know what to expect.

To say we were happy does not adequately describe our whole day. We are an accountant and a banker so flowery words are not fortay – we deal in facts!

Fact- we were truly blown away by his attention to detail, his recommendation of distilleries, the hidden treasures he treated us to which were at no extra cost and just a really nice person to hang out with and learn from throughout the day.

Fact-We would not hesitate to recommend McIntosh tours to anyone looking for a tour of Scotland- trust them and your trust will be amply rewarded.

Fact -We have already passed their details onto friends looking to visit!

Fact- best value and no hidden costs!
