Private Highland tour with lunch
Our tour to Rannoch moor as McIntosh Tours took in the delightful Rannoch train station tearoom, where the waiting rooms have been transformed into a cosy tearoom serving delicious bagels (with smoked salmon) and toasties (Comte and ham with homemade pickle) along with choice of hot/cold/alcoholic drinks and some very tempting home baking.
Lunch was leisurely after walking to the stunning viewpoint at Queen’s view. One of the loveliest things about this tour is the change in landscape starting with forest and loch and then the farmed land with sheep grazing as you go through Rannoch itself. Past the village the beautiful Loch Rannoch with its myriad sandy mini-beaches to the more desolate hills and moor that take you into the abandonment of the highlands.
The weather was very kind and we stopped for a walk through the Black woods on the other side of the Loch to see the ancient trees and take in the crisp fresh Scottish air. The tranquility was soothing and our day ended with a dram to relax and mull over the beauty and pleasure the day had given us.
